There are lots of vaping devices out there that are designed to accommodate the preferences of every vaper. Our latest electronic cigarette review finds us putting the G2 from Revolver Electronic Cigarettes to the test. The G2 is touted as being an e cig designed for the vaper, or smoker looking to make the switch, that wants a heavy throat hit when they partake. Throat hit is an important factor, as some who switch from traditional cigarettes to electronic cigarettes report that they need the feel of smoking along with the vapor to be fully satisfied. To be honest a lot of veteran vapers still want throat hit to be a factor, and that is where Revolver stepped in.
The G2 is your basic two piece design consisting of a battery and a cartomizer. (Revolver does still have a three piece design where the cartridge and the atomizer are spate pieces but who needs the extras? Not us.) In order to ensure that the G2 lives up to its promise of huge throat hits Revolver outfitted it with a battery that puts out between 3.7 and 4.2 volts. This is considerably more voltage that most electronic cigarette batteries offer, as many on the market top out at about 3.7 volts. In our testing the G2 surely does deliver more vapor per puff. In fact, if you have become completely used to using standard e cigs you might need a few puffs to acclimate yourself to this much throat hit. It wasn’t too much by any means, but this e cig surely does deliver more vapor per puff than your standard device. Each cartomizer is estimated to produce about 300 puffs or the equivalent of a pack and a half of traditional smokes. This claim held true even with the increased amount of vapor that the G2 delivers, which is a good thing. We weren’t sure if the larger battery would burn through the e juice more quickly before we tested the device, and were quite pleased to see that it did not. If you opt for the beefed up starter kit, or don’t mind buying an accessory separately, the G2 has a charging carrying case available. In our test we went for two days without plugging in due to having the case. It is a great option for heavy vapers or those who have a tendency to forget to plug in at night. The case is made of a durable plastic and seems as if it will hold up for a good amount of time, our test only lasted a week so we didn’t truly get to test the durability of the case itself. The G2 is available in an automatic or manual version. We tried out the automatic which worked perfectly for us without having to activate the device in order to vape. All in all Revolver is using solid hardware for the G2, we don’t see any quality issues arising from cheap parts with this e cig.
Vapor and Flavor
Revolver has a full line of flavors available. We always start off with traditional tobacco flavors and then branch out. If you do too then Revolver has three options for you: Tobacco Red, Tobacco Gold and RY 4. We liked the Red and the Gold and feel that G2 did a great job blending these juices. The RY 4 is said to be a blend of tobacco and caramel. While it certainly did have a sweet taste that added a nice twist, we wouldn’t say that the caramel flavor was that apparent. It’s a good option for those who like traditional tobacco flavors and want to try something new, but those who want caramel probably won’t be satisfied. Aside from traditional tobacco you can fill the G2 with: Menthol, Cappuccino, Wild Cherry, Cool Berry Blue, Strawberry and Vanilla flavored vapor. We didn’t get to taste the Vanilla, but all of the other flavors can stand up to anything that’s out there on the market. Other manufacturers offer a wider variety of Menthol flavors, but Revolver does provide a medium bodied, well-balanced Menthol if that is what you are looking for. (If you want a heavy menthol flavor you may be disappointed, but we still liked the offering from Revolver) The more exotic flavors were also good, the Cool Bery Blue stuck out as a favorite. One great ting that Revolver does do is sell refillable clearomizers. This way you can stick with the G2, but still explore other brands and flavors of e juice that are out there.
The G2 has two starter kit options. One is a no frills, get straight to the point option. The other sets you up to vape with the G2 for the long term. Both are reasonably priced as electronic cigarettes go, they run on the low end of average compared to how much other brands charge.
